Jeff Lerg Named Michigan College Athlete of the Year
5/12/2008 M. Ice Hockey ~ Michigan State hockey player Jeff Lerg (Livonia, Mich.) has been named the Michigan College Athlete of the Year, as announced by the Detroit Athletic Club on Monday, May 12. The award is given to one male and one female college athlete who has demonstrated excellence in both academics and scholastics, as well as showing strong citizenship through school leadership, community involvement, and volunteerism. Bracamonte and Weigle Named to Big Ten All-Tournament Team
5/11/2008 Softball ~ Michigan State freshman Jessica Bracamonte (Hacienda Heights, Calif.) and junior Kara Weigle (Naples, Fla.) were named to the 2008 Big Ten Softball All-Tournament Team following the championship game at Northwestern's Sharon J. Drysdale Field in Evanston, Ill. The conference honors are the first for Bracamonte and Weigle. The Spartans defeated sixth-ranked Michigan, 2-1, in the opening round before stumbling against Iowa, 13-4, in the semifinals. Together, Bracamonte and Weigle accounted for four of MSU's five total RBI as well as seven of the total 15 hits at the tournament. :: Full Release ::
MSU Baseball Travels To Central Michigan Tuesday
5/12/2008 Baseball ~ The Michigan State baseball team travels to Central Michigan Tuesday, May 13 at 3 p.m. at CMU's Theunissen Stadium. The Spartans, who are 8-2 over their last 10 games, enter the contest with a 24-24 record. CMU is 26-24 after getting swept by Western Michigan last weekend. Tuesday's game is the second of two contests between the two schools this season. Central Michigan defeated the Spartans, 10-7, on April 16 at Oldsmobile Park.

MSU Women's Golf Miss NCAA Championship Berth By One Stroke
5/10/2008 W. Golf ~ The Michigan State women's golf team's season ended on Saturday night, as they fell one stroke short of a qualifying position for the 2008 NCAA Championship. The Spartans shot a final round six-over par 294 at the 2008 NCAA West Regional Championship, being played at the Lincoln Hills Golf Club in Lincoln, Calif., but ended the tournament at 29-over par 893 (295-304-294) and in 11th place. Michigan State Completes Final Day of Len Paddock Invitational
The MSU track & field team finished up competition in the final day of the Len Paddock Invitational, hosted by the University of Michigan, on Saturday afternoon. Red-shirt sophomore Tricia Kowalski turned in a strong performance for the Spartans, coming in second in the 200m dash with a time of 24.83, her second-best mark of the season.Men's Day Two Results

Brian Renfrew Promoted to Associate Head Hockey Coach
Michigan State head coach Rick Comley has announced the promotion of Brian Renfrew to Associate Head Coach for the hockey program. Renfrew just completed his fifth season on the Spartan Hockey staff.
During Renfrew's tenure, the Spartans are 119-71-22 (.613), have made four NCAA Tournament appearances, including advancing to at least a regional final the last three seasons and capturing the 2007 NCAA Championship. Michigan State, along with North Dakota and Boston College, are the only three schools who have each won at least one game in each of the last three NCAA Tournaments.

MSU's Sunday Game At Purdue Rained Out
Michigan State's Sunday baseball game at Purdue has been rained out. There will be no make-up date for the contest. The Spartans finish their series at Purdue 2-1. MSU will play at Central Michigan Tuesday, May 13 at 3 p.m.

Former Spartan Allison Fouch Ties For Second at LPGA's Michelob ULTRA Open
In the defining moment of her young professional golf career, former Michigan State women's golf standout Allison Fouch chipped in for birdie on the 18th hole Sunday to post a seven-under par 64 and ultimately tie for second at this weekend's LPGA Michelob ULTRA Open at the Kingsmill Resort & Spa in Williamsburg, Va.

Hawkeyes Defeat Spartans in Big Ten Softball Tournament Semifinals, 13-4
Michigan State softball saw its hopes of a Big Ten Tournament title come to an end on Friday, as third-seeded Iowa eliminated the Spartans in the semifinals, 13-4 in five innings. MSU finishes the season with a 27-29 mark, while the Hawkeyes (40-17) advance to the championship game Saturday at 1 p.m. Kara Weigle went 2-for-3 with two RBI, and Jessica Bracamonte also had two hits in the game for MSU.

Spartans Split Saturday Doubleheader At Purdue
The Michigan State baseball team split a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Purdue's Lambert Field. The Spartans defeated the Boilermakers, 11-3, before dropping a 6-2 decision in the nightcap. Junior Eric Roof had four RBI and senior Chris Cullen got the win for MSU in game one. MSU (24-24, 12-14 Big Ten) has won two of the first three games of the series. The Spartans have won 11 of their past 14 games.
