Experience:
Sixth Season

Kathleen Milloy is in her sixth season with the Spartan men's and women's swimming teams and her fourth season as associate head coach.

Milloy is actively involved with the everyday operations of the swimming program. Her other team duties involve coaching the men's and women's sprinters and female breaststrokers. In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Milloy serves as the team's recruiting coordinator and also is in charge of planning the team's training trip.

"Coach Milloy is a very integral part of our program," Coach Gianiodis said. "She shows a great amount of attentiveness to the athletes on the team. She is an incredible coach and her experience in dealing with so many situations is very important to our success."

Milloy joined the Michigan State staff in 2002 after serving four years as an assistant coach at Clemson, where she coached the sprinters and breaststrokers. While with the Tigers, Milloy coached six women who qualified for the NCAA Championships, three of which were walk-ons. In addition, she coached three ACC Championship relay teams, each which produced school records.

Prior to her tenure with the Tigers, Milloy was an assistant coach at Toledo, where she spent her time with the sprinters and backstrokers. Under Milloy's tutelage, the Toledo men won the 200-meter freestyle, 400-meter freestyle and 200-meter medley relays, setting Mid-American Conference records in the process.

Milloy also served as the Senior Swim Coach of the Greater Toledo Aquatic Club. She coached 13 athletes at the 1997 Summer Junior Nationals and three athletes at the 1997 Summer Senior Nationals.

The Ottawa, Ontario, native was the assistant women's swimming coach at Brown University from 1992-95, where she aided in rebuilding the women's program. Prior to her stint at Brown, Milloy served as a student assistant coach at the University of Tennessee. While at Tennessee, Milloy helped coach the team to a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, including the school's first NCAA Champion in the 50-meter freestyle, as well as a Honda Awa rd Winner.

Milloy graduated from Tennessee in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in psychology.
