Final Stats

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -The Michigan State men's and women's swimming & diving teams concluded their busiest weekend of the regular season Saturday at Penn State. The scores from Saturday's action were added on to Friday night scores. The women's team ended falling in the dual meet scores to Penn State (264-89), Purdue (272-81) and Virginia (262.5-90.5). The men's team competed against Penn State and Virginia, falling 214-138, and 233.5-117.5, respectively. It was the third time in as many days the swimming teams have competed.

Sophomore Sho Koba and senior Adam Schmitt highlighted the men's efforts. Koba clocked a time of 1:39.87 to win the 200 free, and he also swam the lead leg of the third-place 400 free relay team. Schmitt placed third in the 200 free (1:41.00) and also added a seventh-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 21.41.

Freshman Stephanie Fisher registered a time of 57.86 for a fifth-place swim in the 100 back. Sophomore Laura DeFord also gave a strong effort (2:23.03) in the 200 breast.

"Being that it was our third straight day competing, we didn't have a lot of energy," head coach Matt Gianiodis. "I'm proud of our teams because of the way they battled. We definitely got what we wanted out of this trip."

The Spartans return to action Friday, Nov. 30 at the multi-team Ohio State Invitational.
