Scouting Day: Outstanding offensive player who has the ability to hit for both average and power...has improved his defense during the offseason...will be used primarily as a catcher but will see time in the outfield and DH spots.

2007 Season: Started 50 games, batting .295 with 16 extra-base hits and a team-leading 33 walks...led team with .438 on-base percentage...second on the team with 14 stolen bases in 17 attempts...went 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBI and two runs vs. Quinnipiac (3/9)...had a pair of two-hit games, including two doubles at Oklahoma (3/16-18)...collected three hits at Indiana (3/30)...added a two-hit, two-RBI effort against the Hoosiers (4/1)...performances at Indiana started a stretch where he hit safely in eight of 10 games, including six straight...went 8-for-15 and scored twice in four-game set vs. Penn State (4/14-16)...went 7-for-16 with two home runs and two doubles in four-game series at Illinois (5/18-20).


2006 Season: In just his first season, emerged as one of the team's most powerful and consistent hitters...started all 56 games (27 at catcher, 21 in outfield, and eight at DH)...ranked sixth on the team and 30th in the Big Ten with a .315 batting average...led the team and ranked fifth in the Big Ten with 52 runs, which tied for 10th most in MSU single-season history...tied for team lead in walks (29) and sacrifice flies (five)...posted 16 multi-hit games and six multi-RBI games...registered two eight-game hitting streaks (4/9-4/21; 4/29-5/13)...hit either third or cleanup in the order 46 times...tallied first collegiate hit against Arkansas State (2/25)...collected seven hits and five runs scored on spring trip (3/4-11)...five hits and four runs in Ohio series (3/16-19)...season-best performance vs. Grand Valley State (3/29), going 4-for-4 with four RBI, four runs, a triple and a homer...seven hits, four runs and four RBI in Indiana series (3/31-4/2), including a 3-for-5 effort with two doubles and two RBI in series finale...went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBI in MSU's win over Eastern Michigan (4/5)...2-for-4 with a homer vs. Minnesota (4/22)...scored three runs vs. Toledo (4/26)...3-for-5 with a homer and two runs at Northwestern (5/13)...had four hits, including two triples, and three runs and three RBI in Illinois series (5/19-21).

High School: Three-year letterwinner...hit .510 with eight home runs, seven triples and 12 doubles while collecting 49 RBI his senior year...graduated with the career and single-season records at Snider High School in all four categories...named all-city and all-area junior and senior seasons also collecting all-state accolades as a senior.

Personal: Born July 13, 1986...son of Kevin and Cindy Day...kinesiology major...selected in the 19th round of the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the Chicago Cubs...lists his father as his role model and biggest baseball influence...earned a spot on the MSU baseball "Top 9 Club" for the third year in a row...played for Chatham in the Cape Cod League in 2007 and was selected to the league All-Star game...led the Hays Larks to the Jayhawk League title while being named league Most Valuable Player in summer of 2006...led the team with a .412 batting average and 49 RBI...named the No. 5 prospect in the Jayhawk League by Baseball America.
