Drew Neitzel and Idong Ibok will receive their undergraduate degrees during MSUs 2008 Spring Commencement. 5/2/08
Neitzel And Ibok Receive Bachelor's Degrees
Drew Neitzel and Idong Ibok will receive their undergraduate degrees this weekend (May 2-3). Neitzel, a second-team Academic All-American and three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, will receive his degree in interdisciplinary humanities. Ibok, a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, is receiving his degree in telecommunication. Teammate Drew Naymick received his bachelor's degree in finance in May 2007. Since 2000, 29 Spartans have received their undergraduate degrees.

Field Announced For 2008 Old Spice Classic
ESPN Regional Television, Inc. (ERT), a subsidiary of ESPN, announced today the field for the 2008 Old Spice Classic, to be held on Thanksgiving weekend at the Milk House at Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex near Orlando, Fla. The field for the third annual Old Spice Classic is loaded with current and traditional college basketball powerhouses. The teams will include Michigan State, Georgetown, Gonzaga, Maryland, Oklahoma State, Siena, Tennessee and Wichita State.
 
Tom Izzo will lead the Spartans into the 2008 Old Spice Classic against a top-notch field.

Michigan State Will Play North Carolina At Ford Field In 2008 ACC/Big Ten Challenge
The Michigan State men's basketball team will play North Carolina at Ford Field in Detroit on Wednesday, Dec. 3 in the 10th-annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge. This will be Michigan State's second game at Ford Field, having previously played Kentucky at "The BasketBowl" on Dec. 13, 2003, and will mark the sixth-straight season that MSU has played a regular-season game in the Detroit area.

Men's Basketball 2007-08 Year In Review
Michigan State finished the 2007-08 season with a 27-9 record and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. In a year that saw many notable accomplishments from both the team and individuals, the Spartans were ranked No. 13 in the final ESPN/USA Today Poll.
 
Led by first-team All-Big Ten performer Drew Neitzel, the Spartans finished the 2007-08 season with a 27-9 mark.

MSU Basketball All-American Julius McCoy Passes Away At Age 76
Former Michigan State men's basketball All-American Julius McCoy passed away at age 76 on Friday, April 4, at his home in Harrisburg, Pa. He was born Feb. 21, 1932, in Cheraw, S.C., to the late Rufus and Estelle (Fleming) McCoy. He led Coach Ed McCluskey and his Farrell (Pa.) High School Steelers to basketball prominence in 1952 when they won their first of seven big-school state championships. In his three years at Farrell, McCoy scored 1,471 points, including 726 as a senior when he led the team to a 29-1 record and a victory over Coatsville for the state crown. After high school, McCoy had an illustrious college career at Michigan State, earning All-America, first-team All-Big Ten and team MVP honors in 1956, finishing his career as the Spartans' all-time leading scorer at the time.

Drew Neitzel To Compete In College 3-Point Championship
Michigan State senior guard Drew Neitzel (Grand Rapids, Mich.) will compete in the 3-point contest at the 20th Annual State Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships, held Thursday, April 3 at Greehey Arena on the St. Mary's University campus in San Antonio. The competition will begin at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on ESPN at 9 p.m. ET.

Michigan State Makes Seventh Trip To Sweet 16 In Last 11 Seasons
Michigan State is making its seventh trip to the Sweet 16 in the last 11 seasons. The Spartans will face the Memphis Tigers, the No. 1 seed in the South Region. This will be the just the second meeting ever between the Spartans and the Tigers, and the first one in the NCAA Tournament. The winner of the MSU/Memphis game will face the winner of the Stanford/Texas game on Sunday for the right to move on to the 2008 Final Four in San Antonio.
