New Practice Facility Adds Location, Technology to Golf Program

The new practice facility features four hitting stations and a 1,080 square foot putting surface.

The Rearick Golf Facility opened prior to the start of the 2003-2004 school year, while the new practice facility opened in November 2004.

The Spartans' locker room allows players to store their clubs and equipment year round.

Sophomore Mitch Pierce (Fenton, Mich.) practices some long-iron shots at one of the four hitting stations.

The new practice facility offers greater flexibility in the players' practice schedules, allowing players to shape their practice routine around their classes.

Senior Andrew Ruthkoski (left) led the team with a 71.79 scoring average in the fall. Sophomore Mitch Pierce (right) competed in four tournaments and posted his first top-20 finish of his career at the Adam's Cup of Newport.

"We can be in here any time, any day of the week. The location and the amount of time we have here is phenomenal," said sophomore Zac Zedrick (Danville, Ill.). Ruthkoski (left) takes advantage of the green's size, while Zedrick (right) grooves his putting stroke with a shorter putt.

"I like the putting green because we can work on putts from 20-footers to three-footers," Andrew Ruthkoski said.

Women's golfer Dayna Burleigh uses the V-1 Video System to analyze her swing. The V-1 System is one of the best in the state and allows players to improve their swings in the off-season.
