EAST LANSING, Mich. - Senior Matt Harmon earned his second career Big Ten Co-Golfer of the Week honors Tuesday after topping the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate field last week. The senior posted an even-par score on the par-71 Scarlet Course for a 142 total (71-71). The 17th-ranked golfer was the only person to finish at even par, and led the second-place finisher, 22nd-ranked Derek Fathauer of Louisville, by two strokes and third-place finisher, Robert Rohanna of Penn State, by four strokes. The win was Harmon's second victory of his Spartan career; he won the Schenkel E-Z-Go in 2006 and he is the second Spartan to win two tournament titles during his college career.

Harmon led the team to a second-place finish (295-305--600), nine strokes behind top finisher Louisville at the Spartans' third tournament of the spring season. Harmon has been the Spartans top finisher in four of the eight tournaments this season and holds the team's lowest scoring average, 73.86.

With the win, the Grand Rapids native moved from 45th to 17th in the most recent Golfweek/Sagarin rankings to top all ranked Big Ten players.

Harmon is the second consecutive MSU golfer to be named Big Ten Co-Golfer of the week. Last week, Ryan Brehm was honored with the same award.
