After Marathon Bout, Franklin Gomez Advances to Quarterfinals of 2008 NCAA Championships
Sophomore Franklin Gomez began his first NCAA Championship with a pair of wins to advance to the Friday's 133-pound quarterfinals. Gomez began the day in the morning session at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo. with a 12-4 major decision over Northern Iowa's Josh Baldridge and followed in the night session with a 6-5, 13-minute marathan win over Ohio State's Reece Humphrey in three sudden victory overtimes.

Franklin Gomez Enters NCAA Championship as 133-Pound Top Seed
Michigan State's Franklin Gomez will open his 2008 NCAA Wrestling Championships campaign as the No. 1 seed in the 133-pound bracket, as announced Monday night by the tournament committee. Gomez enters the tourament with a 28-1 overall record and as InterMat's No. 1-ranked grappler in his weight class. Gomez will face Northern Iowa's unseeded Josh Baldridge, who owns an 8-5 mark, in the first round. Both Gomez and Baldrigde received byes through the opening bouts of round one.

Franklin Gomez Reaches No. 1 In InterMat Rankings
Sophomore Franklin Gomez ranks as the top 133-pound wrestler in the nation, according to InterMat wrestling's March 12 rankings. Gomez owns a 28-1 overall record this year after claiming the 2008 Big Ten Championship at 133 pounds, and has been honored by the conference office by being named to the All-Big Ten Team. Gomez became the 65th individual Big Ten champion in the prestigious history of MSU wrestling, including the third at 133-pounds, a weight class that has only been competed at the conference championship since 1999.

Franklin Gomez Wins 2008 Big Ten Championships at 133 Pounds
Sophomore Franklin Gomez proved today that he is one of the best, if not the best, collegiate wrestler at 133 pounds, beating No. 1-seed James Kennedy of Illinois, 3-1, this afternoon to win the 2008 Big Ten Championship, held inside Williams Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota. Gomez, the No. 3-seed in the weight class, becomes the 65th individual Big Ten champion in the prestigious history of MSU wrestling, including the third at 133-pounds, a weight class that has only been competed at the conference championship since 1999.

MSU's Franklin Gomez Advanced to Finals of 2008 Big Ten Championships
Sophomore Franklin Gomez continued his remarkable season, knocking off No. 2-seed Joey Slaton of Iowa in tonight's semifinals, to advance to Sunday's 133-pound finals of the 2008 Big Ten Championships, held at the Williams Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The No. 3 seeded Gomez, who will now face the No. 1 seed, James Kennedy of Illinois, withheld a late flurry from Slaton, the only wrestler to beat Gomez this season, for the 10-8 win.
Gomez' championship match along with the finals bouts of all weight classes can be seen live on the Big Ten Network, beginning at 3 p.m. ET.

Gomez Leads Spartans Through First Session of 2008 Big Ten Championships
The Michigan State wrestling team completed the first session of the 2008 Big Ten Championships this afternoon inside Williams Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota. Sophomore Franklin Gomez highlighted the opening bouts, advancing to the semifinals of the 133-pound weight class.
