EAST LANSING, Mich. - Incoming Spartan freshman Courtney Schiffauer was recently named the OHSBCA (Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association) Division I Player of the Year. Schiffauer, a second-team all-state selection by the Associated Press, averaged 21 points and 10 rebounds in leading Boardman High School to the state semifinals and a 19-8 record.

Named to the all-league and all-district first team for the third straight year, Schiffauer ended her high school career with 1,980 points. The 6-1 forward, who was named one of the top 25 seniors in the state by Ohio Girls Basketball Report, also received votes for Federal League Player of the Year. She earned Ohio All-Tournament accolades after Boardman won the district and regional titles en route to the semifinals. Schiffauer closed her senior season playing in two all-star games; she participated in the OHSBCA All-Star Game, and also scored 16 points to lead Mahoning County over Trumbull Country in the 38th annual Al Beach Classic at Boardman High School.

Schiffauer will join Taylor Johnson (Lakewood, Colo.) and Porschè Poole (Canton, Ohio) as freshmen on next season's Spartan women's basketball team.
