Rowing Sweeps Big Ten Conference Postseason Honors
Days after the Michigan State rowing team captured its second Big Ten Title in four years, the Spartans swept the conference's major awards: Senior Anne Cowan was honored as the Athlete of the Year, Laura Cowal nabbed the Freshman of the Year award, and Spartan head coach Matt Weise was named the 2008 Big Ten Conference's Coach of the Year, as announced Wednesday by the league office.

Rowers Capture 2008 Big Ten Title
Michigan State captured the 2008 Big Ten Rowing title on Saturday in Ann Arbor in fine fashion, winning three individual event titles and finishing second in two other races. The varsity eight, ranked sixth in the most recent CRCA poll, won its second Big Ten title in school history and helped the Spartans to their second team title as well - both had previously won in 2005. With 150 team points, Michigan State tied the all-time points record in the Big Ten Championships, tying Minnesota's 150 it scored last season in its title run.

Rowing Set For Big Ten Championships
Heading into the Big Ten Championships as the top seed in three races, Michigan State rowing looks to reclaim the conference title, after finishing fourth last year and missing the NCAA Championship Regatta for the first time in program history. The University of Michigan hosts this year's regatta, on Saturday, May 3 on Belleville Lake.

Spartans Earn Top Seeds In Big Ten Championships
The Big Ten Conference announced the seedings for the 2008 Women's Rowing Championships, which will be held Saturday, May 3 in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Spartans' varsity eight, varsity four and novice eight crews all earned the No. 1 seed in their races, while the second varsity eight and second varsity four boats are the No. 2 seeds. MSU's second varsity eight boat is the fifth seed.

Spartan Rowing Ranks Sixth in the Nation
Michigan State rowing heads into the Big Ten Championship as the sixth-ranked team in the nation by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). The highest ranking among conference opponents, Michigan is the next closest program, ranked ninth, while Ohio State and Minnesota sit at 13th and 16th, respectively. The Spartans jumped one spot from last week's ranking.

Spartan Varsity Eight Tabbed Big Ten Co-Boat of the Week
Michigan State's varsity eight (7-2) posted wins over Louisville and No. 15 Minnesota over the weekend, en route to claiming the Big Ten Conference's Boat of the Week honor. Michigan's varsity eight also swept the weekend outing against the Golden Gophers and Cardinals to earn a share of the weekly award.

Spartan Rowing Sweeps Minnesota and Louisville
Michigan State rowing entered Saturday's duals as the top program in Big Ten standings, and the Spartans maintained their position with two wins in Minneapolis, Minn., on the Mississippi River. MSU topped defending conference champion Minnesota in the morning, before breezing past Louisville in the afternoon.

Rowing Wraps Up Regular Season At Minnesota
Michigan State rowing competes in its final regular season duals on Saturday, April 19, taking on Big Ten foes Minnesota and Michigan in Minneapolis, Minn. The Spartans race against the Wolverines in the morning, and the Golden Gophers in the afternoon in 2,000-meter events.
Due to lake conditions, the regatta has been moved from Lake Phalen to the Mississippi River. The races will take place on the river just south of the Lake Street Bridge, beginning at 8:30 a.m., followed by an afternoon session at 12:30 p.m.

Rowing Cruises Past Central Florida for Sweep
Michigan State rowing finished action at the Virginia Invitational Sunday morning with three varsity wins against Central Florida. Over the weekend, MSU's varsity four boat went undefeated, posting victories over Virginia, Oregon State and the Bulls.
