Spartan Women's Golf 13th Thru 36 Holes at NCAA West Regional

The Michigan State women's golf team slipped down the leaderboard on Friday at the 2008 NCAA West Regional Championship, being played at the Lincoln Hills Golf Club in Lincoln, Calif., but they are still only four strokes out of the eighth and final NCAA Championship qualifying position. The Spartans, ranked No. 17 by Golfweek/Sagarin and the seventh seed in the regional, carded a second round 16-over par 304 to be in 13th place at 23-over par 599.

The Michigan State women's golf team is in second place after three rounds at the 2008 Big Ten Championships at the Penn State Blue Course in University Park, Pa. The Spartans shot a third-round score of seven-over par 295, the second-best team score of the day, for a three-round total of 26-over par 890 (292-303-295). Purdue, however, remains in first place after a third-round score of two-under par 286 for a three-round total of eight-over par 872 (298-288-286).

For the second time this season, senior Sara Brown has been named the Big Ten Conference's Women's Golfer of the Week, it was announced by the league's office on Wednesday afternoon. Brown earns the award after winning the Lady Buckeye Invitational this past weekend for her third individual victory of the season.
