Sophomore Rochelle Robinson scored a 9.825 on bars, her best mark of the night.

April 24, 2008

ATHENS, Ga. - Michigan State gymnastics sophomore Rochelle Robinson finished 33rd in the all-around at the 2008 NCAA Division I Women's Gymnastics Championships, held inside the Stegeman Coliseum on the campus of the University of Georgia tonight. "We are extremely happy to have Rochelle represent Michigan State at the NCAA Championships," said head coach Kathie Klages. "Her results may not have been as good as she hoped, but it is a tremendous accomplishment to reach this level of competition. As a sophomore, she will have many more opportunities to showcase her tremendous talents to the national audience."

Rotating with the University of Utah, Robinson began on bars after a first rotation bye. She would score her third-best mark of the season with a 9.825, which placed her in a tie for 46th. The score and finish were her best in any event tonight.

From bars, Robinson moved to beam, scoring a 9.650 and tying for 68th. After another bye, the Chesapeake, Va. native was 79th on floor with a 9.525 and tied for 51th on vault with a 9.775.

Robinson totaled 38.775 in the all-around for her 33rd place finish.

The Spartans now wrap up the successful 2008 season.

"As a coaching staff, we are very proud of the accomplishments of this year's team," said Klages. "We have dealt with adversity throughout the season, but the team continued to succeed and achieve things that had never happened in our program's history. We have a lot to build off of leading into next season."
