Beyond the Beam
The Spartans had a great meet this past weekend! The Spartans hosted the University of Michigan on Saturday night. What a great competition for the two rival schools. It was 'neck-n-neck' throughout the competition but in the end, MSU missed the “W” by .325…196.475-196.15. We as a coaching staff were very pleased with our team performance and the energy they brought throughout the competition.
Highlights:
- Megan Bergland tied for 1st on bars with a 9.9
- Rochelle Robinson took 2nd on vault with a 9.875
- 23/24 made routines!!
- Nicole Curler came away with 2nd on beam (9.825) and 1st on floor (9.925)
- Kristen Coleman placed 2nd on floor (9.9) as well as 2nd in the all-around (39.3)
This is Spring Break week for MSU. It just so happens that we do not have a competition this weekend. Therefore the Spartan gymnasts will be training hard and working on fine-tuning their routines. We have this opportunity to rest some bodies that may need rest before starting back up with a double meet weekend on March 16th and 18th. Friday, March 16th we will travel down to Florida where we will be competing against University of Florida. We return to Michigan to compete against Western Michigan University on Sunday.
