Tammy Farnum Position: Associate Head Coach Experience: 10th Year

Former Spartan standout Tammy Farnum begins her 11th season in a coaching capacity with the Michigan State soccer program. Following the 2005 season, Farnum was promoted to the position of associate head coach, having served the previous nine seasons as an assistant coach.

Prior to her position at MSU, Farnum served as both the head women's soccer coach and women's athletic director at Alma College from 1994-97.

From 1992-94, Farnum coached at East Lansing High School. An 11-year Michigan Olympic Development Coach, Farnum has coached five teams to national championships and holds an NSCAA "C" License.

Farnum helped to direct a stingy Spartan defense in 2005. The Green and White allowed just 22 goals in 23 games last season, while three defenders started all 23 contests and a fourth started all but one. Under Farnum's guidance, the foursome helped anchor a Michigan State defense that posted 12 shutouts in 2005.

As a Spartan, the former Tammy Anderson was a four-year letterwinner, appeared in 75 games and registered eight goals, 13 assists and 29 points from the backline. During her career, from 1989-92, MSU racked up an impressive 50-22-3 record. Farnum served as a co-captain in her senior season.

A 1994 graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in physical education and exercise science, Farnum and her husband James were married in 2001. The couple has two daughters Adalin (4) and Kate (2).
