Assistant Coach (First Year)

A former Spartan softball standout, Jessica Beech continues her work with the Spartan program as an assistant coach, having served as a volunteer assistant last year. Along with assisting in day-to-day duties, Beech will primarily work as MSU's pitching coach. A two-time NFCA All-America honoree, Beech holds the MSU record for career no-hitters (4), wins (72), shutouts (24) and strikeouts (659). In addition, she holds single-season records for wins (29), innings pitched (283.1), appearances (53), shutouts (13) and the top two spots on the single-season strikeout chart (264, 235). Beech earned her first All-America honor following her junior year, during which she posted a 27-11 record with a 1.25 ERA. She posted 30 complete games with 13 shutouts for State in 2003. Beech also hit .254 (43-for-169) on the season.

As a senior, Beech was a Second-Team All-Big Ten selection, as she not only posted 29 wins as a pitcher but led the Big Ten in batting in conference games with a .406 batting average.

She also was named Big Ten All-Tournament, All-Big Ten and Academic All-District, as well as First-Team All-Great Lakes Region in both 2003 and 2004.
